Greer wins dramatic Killarney historic Rally

Jonathan Greer has won the Killarney historic Rally in dramatic fashion. Greer was to be challenged all weekend by world rally championship driver Craig Breen. The Waterford man stretched a 0.7 second gap over Greer in the first run of molls gap. After stage 2 ballaghbeama the pair were equal with Greer being quicker by 0.7 seconds then on to SS3 Greer was faster by 1.2 seconds over breen and don't forget Alan ring in his legacy a bit less than two seconds behind the pair. While they went back to service the modifieds roared on through with Kevin Eves in his Toyota Corolla AE86 extending his gap to 11 seconds over Conor Murphy. Breen fought back though in the second run of molls gap pulling 4.7 seconds back from Greer he was on a mission but in SS5 Greer bounced back taking 3.7 off of the Waterford man with Alan Ring following close behind still. SS6 Breen had a spin but that was not evident in the times as he only lost a second but that was the least of his troubles as he had lost 1st gear in his ex-Frank Meagher Sierra. This fell perfectly into the hands of Greer and the pair on exactly identical times going into the last run of the gap but this was clearly not Breens year as he broke the half shaft in the road section and so ment that he was out of the Rally. Alan Ring also stopped briefly but Jonathan Greer had claimed victory in Killarney with Ring second and Cathan McCourt 3rd in his escort only a second behind Ring. and a dominant drive from Kevin Eves to take the modified Victory by 36.4 over Daniel McKenna.
