Lappi who performed brilliantly in 2022 was only on a Part-time drive in 2020 Lappi was left without a seat and In 2021 we saw him at his home rally finishing 2nd. Toyota saw this though and when Ogier announced his retirement that played into lappi’s hands although it wasn’t a full time drive Lappi was very pleased now with his good performances at Toyota ,Hyundai have now noticed that and are hoping to provide a home for him full-time.
In a move which looks to have turned the driver market on its head.
Next year will be Lappi’s fifth season out of six driving for a new team, having moved from Toyota to Citroën to M-Sport before returning to Toyota after spending 2021 on the sidelines.
The 31-year-old Finn has car shared a Yaris with Sébastien Ogier through this season – and impressed with three podiums in seven starts. Despite contesting just over half of the events, he has won 14 stages and led for three.
