Nagle gets well deserved send off
Paul Nagle has retired from the wrc today but after 18 years of being in the WRC he had to get a mighty send off from the Irish crowd.
Craig breen and Paul Nagle survived an early morning scare to finish 9th overall and at the end of the power stage an almighty flock of Irish fans were there to see him not only the Irish but most importantly wife Kathy and there two kids. Nagels first rally came at the 2004 rally Spain alongside Donie O’Sullivan in a 2001 Ford Focus wrc but in 2006 after a crash in sardegna they parted ways. In 2009 after some Co-driving for Gareth Machale Paul went to the IRC (intercontinental rally challenge)
With Kris Meeke who he had Co-driven for in the past. They had a rough start crashing in the first event in Monte-Carlo there competition was strong too with the likes of Juho Hanninen, Freddy loix and Jan Kopecy competing Kris and Paul were an unstoppable Duo and won the IRC in 2009. He also Competed in the Rally Ireland with Kris but had an off on the 2nd day. Through the next number of years Paul would Co-drive for many other drivers such as Craig breen and Andreas Mikklesen. But For 2014 Nagle and Meeke will be reunited for a full season at Citroën. They would be successful togheter and get 5 Rally wins. The first of Which came at the 2015 Rally Argentina then the next at the 2016 rally Portugal The very famous one at Finland in 2016 where they set a new stage record on the famous ouninpohja stage. The dramatic 2017 rally Mexico victory and The 2017 Rally Spain In 2019 Paul competed alongside Craig Breen in a part-time seat and got multiple podiums from 2019-2021 in 2022 Craig and Paul got a full time drive with M-sport and they achieved a podium at rallye Monte-Carlo. Spain was Paul's last outing but he’ll go down in history and James Fulton will be next to sit alongside Craig which is also very exciting.
