R.I.P Ken Block

Ken Block has died age 55 after a snowmobile accident. Hoonigan realeased a statement after the accident saying "Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed." Block was riding a snowmobile near his ranch in Utah when the snowmobile upended he was pronounced dead at the scene. Ken was a competitive rally driver since 2005 and was a co-founder of shoe company Dc shoes which was massively successful and funded his rallying career. Block built the YouTube series gymkhana from the ground up starting with a low budget and pure driving skill in his Subaru rally car with nearly 400 horsepower this was the first gymkhana video released over 14 years ago

Gymkhana 2 featured the new Subaru wrx sti which had been driven in the world rally championship in 2008 by petter solberg and Chris Atkinson. But this car was a bit different as the modded Subaru featured over 450 Bhp. Since the realise of that YouTube video it has racked up over 50 million views. In 2009 after competing in the American Rally Association (ARA) since 2005 Block competed the 2007 Rally Mexico and competed many rally’s in the world rally championship over the next 13 years with his last coming at the 2020 rally Mexico which was cut short due to the corona virus. Block also competed in Ireland at the 2019 Donegal international in his highly modified Ford sierra cosworth with 340 Bhp. All the Gymkhana videos and that Block produced amassed over 550 Millon videos and that number expected to rise from his death.
